You can buy elite armor without having any max armor, but the places you get elite armor usually require having max to get there, or getting a run.

Huh? Do you mean your armor is 55 AL? lol..that's fine for a caster atm, but maxed is always best. And no, you can get whatever armor henever yo u want, supposing your character can get there. So, if you make a Prop. character, and get a run to Grotto @ lvl 3, you can get whichever armor you'd like there. I was a bit confused with what you wrote at first, but now i think i understand what you are saying. To make it clear...
You can buy whatever armor you want, so long as you can get to the outpost that sells it. As for elite armors, the cheapest max armor is 1k + material cost, which total averages at about 10-15k. For Elite/Prestige Armor, the minimal cost is 60k + mats. I hope this clears things up for you. As for the insignia slot thing, that is a lie. And the difference between 55 and say 70 AL is that the more armor you have, the better. Less damage. Here, read this, it'll clear thigns up. http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Armor_rating Good luck! |

Did he mean regular armor opposed to collector's armor?
Otherwise he pretty just doesn't know what he's talking about. |

Or are you asking if you need max armor to purchase elite armor? If so, no you don't need max armor to buy elite armor. You do however need to have the town where the max armor is available, and the cash+mats. Furthermore, if you do not want to spend money on max armor, you do not have to but it is highly recommended because, max armor reduces damage taken and inscreases your chance of survival etc. Normal armor (1k) or Elite armor (10-15k) is essentially the same thing, the only difference with elite armor is the looks, and it is more expensive. Keep in Mind: Not all elite armor is 50-60k range though, check out http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Armor to see armor. Quote:

Ok, to make sure I understood correctly :
You are a ranger(I think) with 55 AL armor and you are asking if you need to buy 70 AL to be able to buy Prestige armor. The answer is no you can buy whatever armor whenever you want, as long as you have enough money. The difference between 55 AL and 70 AL is that with 70 AL you take less damage than with 55 AL. The rumor about another insignia on prestige armor is false : Prestige and regular armor have the same stat, the same number of rune, the same number of insignia, the only differece is the look it has. |

I had said the cheapest max armor, not the cheapest prestige. And i had forgotten Ancient... Anyways, collectively, elite armor is about 60k+. And i was jsut saying generally...geez...
Your best bet for the cheapest max amror is Droks...it's 1k a piece + mats. as i said above, probably 10-15k range, depending on which you choose. Well, you need anything else, Online? Last edited by Heavenly Messanger; Jan 07, 2008 at 04:20 AM // 04:20.. |

So you say your cheap, but you want to buy elite armor ? Take my advice, "Whats cheap comes out expensive". Theres no way you are going to save up enough money fighting in low level areas beacuse your AR is is not high enough to withstand the blows of more powerfull enemies (which will make you richer quicker). Besides, since you are lazy, so just stick with Krytan armor from the desert.
